HTML Tutorial helps you to completely learn HTML language. This is HTML tutorial introduction. HTML stands for Hyper Text markup Language.

Example of a HTML document –

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Title of the page</title>
</head>
<body>

<h1>This represents the Heading Type 1</h1>
<p>This represents a paragraph </p>

</body>
</html>

<!DOCTYPE html> mentioned defines that the document is a HTML5 document.

<html> at the starting and </html> at the ending shows that the document we have provided is a HTML document for the browsers.

<head> contains the meta data about the document. IF the document is related to technology, the head contains some data related to technology.

<title> provides the title of the HTML document.

<body> provides the only space that will be displayed to the users viewing in the browser. This is also known as visible page.

<h1>, <h2>, <h3>, <h4>, <h5>, <h6> are the heading types and are written in the descending order.

At last but not least, <p> defines that it is the starting of a paragraph.

In HTML, we use tags to determine the type of element to be displayed. Usually we have two tags, a start tag and an end tag. In the beginning of end tag, a forward slash is introduced to denote the tag as an end tag. Web browsers only read the HTML document from the internet and displays it to you as it is designed.

Types of HTML –

We have different versions. The first HTML was introduced in the year 1991 and currently, we are using HTML5 released in the year 2014.

We can use notepad in Windows operating system to write a HTML document.

While saving the notepad, if you want to save it as a HTML document, you need to name the file with an extension .htm or .html
